Shopping For New HVAC Units
New HVAC Purchased
Rheem HVAC Units Installed
After getting some quotes from a couple of companies I ended up going with TempRite for the purchase and installation of the new HVAC systems. The pricing was really competitive and included the following:
- Replacing the shut off electrical boxes
- Replacing the weather proof flexible conduit from the roof to the new electrical boxes
- Building new metal stands for the HVAC systems
- Building new venting that adapts the new HVAC units to the intake and output vents for the house
- New gas lines
- Redoing the pipes that drain condensation away from the HVAC units
- 2 new programmable thermostats
- As well as everything else necessary for installation like a crane rental to get the units on my roof
The HVAC units we purchased were:
- Rheem RRPLB036JK0 3 Ton gas package R410A unit with a 14 SEER and 12 EER rating for the upstairs
- Rheem RRPLB042JK0 3 Ton gas package R410A unit with a 14 SEER and 12 EER rating for the downstairs
Unfortunately the lowest bid, TempRite, was still $9000 for both units and installation. On the positive side we qualify for the $1500 government tax credit for energy efficiency and $600 rebate from NV Energy. So after rebates and credits it will cost us $6900. That was the pricing I was getting for non Enery Star rated 13 SEER units.
