Introducing Barda the Shop Dog and Open Source Tools

Shop Dog

Our first dog Sadie was a pitbull mix rescue who was with us for 11 years.  Unfortunately she passed away in February 2015.

In November 2015, during Thanksgiving, my wife and I went to a Petsmart to meet a couple dogs we saw online.  After hanging out with two other dogs we asked to see “Skittles”, the name she was being called.  The woman brought out a little gray pit mix with a tail that wouldn’t stop wagging.

While we were hanging out with her, she laid on her back in my wife’s lap with her tail constantly wagging.  I knew she was our dog when I saw the smile on my wife’s face.  When they spayed her she got a bath and all of a sudden the light gray dog became a dark gray dog.

Barda is a funny little dog.  She doesn’t like to lay on the ground.  Let’s just say she enjoys having a bed, as you can see from the picture above where she’s helping me in the garage.  Also, she is a social butterfly at the park, going from person to person greeting them with a wildly wagging tail and trying to play with their dogs.

Open Source Tools

Pat Delany started Open Source Machine Tools to provide people around the globe with free plans to create the tools they need to be more self sustaining.  The plans are very detailed and use commonly found resources, such as concrete and junk automotive parts.  The main projects on the site are

  • Concrete Lathe
  • MultiMachine
  • Treadle-Powered Generator (Project Genny)
  • Open Source Drill
  • Universal Hub (AKA The Device)
